Full DescriptionSteel Wings is proud to offer Aston Martin DB5/1549/R. Finished in the popular Silver Birch over black leather, 1549/R has many desirable features that only serve to enhance its already universal appeal.
Delivered in May of 1964 to Lewis Brothers Ltd., 1549/R was originally finished in Silver Birch over Sierra Blue with "a gold line to separate the two" and red Connolly leather interior. Although full ownership records are unclear, the car had at least two additional owners before it was purchased by the current owner from R.S. Williams in the UK in September of 1977, at which time the car had been painted Cambridge blue.
Although it appears to be fresh from the paint booth, 1549/R received a comprehensive bare metal restoration with the highest quality materials here at Steel Wings in 2003. The restoration included conversion to left-hand drive, non-factory AC that blows cold with more than adequate air volume, and the Steel Wings suspension upgrade package which offers exceptional handling and ride quality. Every electrical and mechanical component on the car was rebuilt or renewed as necessary.
The engine received a full rebuild and was uprated to 4.2 litre specifications from the original 4 litre. It is fitted with performance camshafts and triple Weber carburetors, replacing the original SUs. Mated to the correct ZF 5-speed transmission, the result is a substantial boost in horsepower and torque.
Today, the paintwork, chrome, engine, and interior all remain in spectacular condition. Since its completion, 1549/R has clocked only 6000 miles and has been serviced regularly at Steel Wings during that time.
This is a meticulously maintained example of a legendary British saloon that can be enjoyed today and for years to come.
Also included are correct tool roll, hammer and jack
